Students Show off Their IT Brainpower
Technology is everywhere. The Microsoft Imagine Cup 2012 IT Challenge is geared to connect with students around the world who have the brainpower, interest, and technical knowledge to design, run, and support enterprise infrastructures while managing diverse customer needs and scenarios. The IT Challenge puts the world's brightest IT minds to the test!
In the IT Challenge, students were tasked to develop, deploy, and maintain IT systems that are efficient, functional, robust, and secure. Each competitor needs to demonstrate proficiency in the science of networks, databases, and servers, as well as an intimate understanding of how it must all fit together, both on-premise and in the cloud.
The IT Challenge has concluded. Congratulations to the
top three competitors who each win a trip to the Worldwide Finals in Sydney, Australia where first, second, and third place will be announced on 10 July 2012.
Meet the IT Challenge Captains Rand Morimoto and Chris Amaris.
Rand Morimoto, Ph.D., MCITP: Rand is an industry expert on Microsoft technologies who has written over 3 dozen bestselling books, most recently Windows 2008 R2 Unleashed and Exchange 2010 Unleashed. Rand keynotes and leads over 50 conferences and conventions around the world each year. Dr. Morimoto is the former cyber-security advisor to the White House, is a Trustee on the Governing Board for St. Mary's College, and Board member for the NASA affiliated Chabot Space and Science Center planetarium and science museum. This is Dr. Morimoto’s 8th year as Captain and Head Judge of the Microsoft Imagine Cup IT Challenge Competition.
Chris Amaris, MCITP, CISSP: Chris has been in the computer industry for over 25-yrs and is a bestselling author of several books including System Center Enterprise Suite Unleashed, Windows 2008 R2 Unleashed and Exchange 2010 Unleashed. Chris leads some of the largest global consulting engagements in the world. This is Chris’ 8th year as a Captain of the Microsoft Imagine Cup IT Challenge Competition, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the competition!
