Khan Al-Khalili is a very famous and very ancient bazaar selling goods for mainly tourists in downtown Cairo. It may well be one of the world’s first “malls” and it’s a long way from the elegance and sleek style of the home of the Worldwide Finals: Citystars. Regardless, it is worth the visit.
Immerse yourself in the pulse and smell of this section of old Cairo. You will navigate down small, thin, cramped, and uneven cobblestone streets lined with thousands of vendors. A few vendors, this evening, called out to us in good humor: “please let me take your money!” If you can, go with a group and perhaps with a guide or someone in your group that speaks Arabic. There are no deals on jewelry (cost is based on weight) but you are free to haggle for the best price on all other goods.
Great deals on scarves, souvenirs, gold and silver jewelry including Egyptian cartouche pendants, alabaster, tunics, hookah pipes and more!
You have to see it to believe it.
