Joe Wilson travels around the world meeting with students in his role as the Senior Director of Academic Initiatives for the Microsoft Developer & Platform Evangelism Division. When he spoke at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China’s Hubei Province back in 2007, he inspired four students to apply their “innovation, energy and social responsibility” to change the world.
Following the tragic death of a young relative to pneumonia, Team Unique Studio focused on the fourth United Nations Millennium Development Goal to “reduce child mortality” when they entered Imagine Cup 2009. They created “CoDoc,” a mobile tele-medicine solution that allows doctors to remotely diagnose the symptoms of pneumonia. Check out their video demo to see how the team has “built a bridge to rural doctors” with a device that they hope will be available for less than $10.
Unique Studio has made it to the finals for the Unlimited Potential “Design for Development” Award, which will be announced on July 7. We wish this inspiring young team from China good luck!
Other teams competing for this prestigious award at the Worldwide Finals are: pedjoeang from Indonesia, COSMIC from Malaysia, Capricorn from Malaysia, and development++ from Uganda.
