Today at 14:00, the H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak Special Award presentations will take place in Al Saraya 1. This award is designed to highlight Software Design projects that best intersect the Imagine Cup theme and the goals of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement and the Cyber Peace Initiative. Here is a quick introduction to the teams who will be presenting their submissions today.
From Egypt, team Big Buddy (left) with the project InternLearn. Many schools in developing countries suffer from a lack of resources, under-qualified teachers, and overly-crowded classes. These factors definitely reflect on the student’s motivation. InternLearn is a software technology to assist primary-level students with learning difficulties in education. The main objective is to grab the child’s attention and keep him or her focused and concentrating.
WikiChildProtect from France has a project by the same name that provides parents control software. By being free and easy to use, parents from all over the world can protect not only their children but all children. The team had experience with parental control software and found it difficult to use or easy to hack in to. They hope their software can be available to as many as possible.
Gadjahmada, the team from Indonesia (right) submits a project called Trafstopper. Based on human trafficking being a real problem in Indonesia, this team has an innovative approach to solve human trafficking in the world collaboratively.
Poland’s team kAMUflage (left) has a project called TraMuBraTion which
is an integrated tool that supports blind and visually impaired children in education through sounds and music. Their system supports learning the Braille notation – a difficult but necessary part of blind people’s life. With their system blind and sighted children can share their passion for music.
Lastly, the United States team, Special Child created a project called: A Parent’s Hope, A Child’s Future. This is an application that is relatively simple. It is a way to match those children that are waiting to be adopted with pre-qualified adoptive parents. It brings together private, public and international agencies from around the world by providing a mechanism through which they can share data and match children.
Good luck to all of these teams. See you at the H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak Special Award presentations at 14:00 today, Monday, July 6.
