Want to see what some of your fellow students are doing? In the United States, the People’s Choice Award kicks off today, giving you the chance to view and vote for your favorite Software Design projects now through April 23rd (if you’re in the US). People’s Choice is a great way to share the work you’re doing with your friends, family, colleagues and teachers. You can find out more about the finalist projects, who were selected from more than 14,000 applicants, here.
And don’t worry – for those of you outside the US, we’ll have a People’s Choice competition globally later this year.

With the Windows Phone 7 Series “Rockstar” Award, your team is challenged to create a visually appealing, consumer-friendly Windows Phone 7 Series application in either Silverlight or XNA using the recently released Windows Phone 7 Series Developer Tools preview. The winning team will be among the first developers — ever — to build an app for Windows Phone 7 Series and get to showcase their project at the Worldwide Finals along with receiving Windows Phones and cash prizes.
For those of you who have a video camera and an eye for the future, the Envisioning 2020 Award asks you to express your vision for how technology could transform people’s lives by 2020. Technology has in recent history changed our lives in amazing ways and is bound to change it even more profoundly in the next couple of decades. So, under the theme “Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems,” teams are asked to create a brief video that depicts how their big idea positively affects the way people work, play and live.
