  It's still a mystery.. HOAX, Technical Error, or Judges still doubted about their decision Reply Contact It's still confusing around here. Who are the six finalist? Cause i still can't see the results in leaderboard, but others have announce the name of the finalist in this subject. I still confuse and can't believe this subject. Honestly i disappointed with the results mention above, Essens said "esens: Congratulations to teams BYU, Team Voodoo Delirium, terada, The Xtroverts, Woolgathering, ZGLAD TEAM!  Have fun and good luck to all of you! :)" Whaaaattt ?? I didn't see all the essay from the semifinalists. But, What can i say.. ZGLAD TEAM ??? I don;t think the judges make the right decision. Their photoes, actually i didn't think it's good. So many photoshop editing, the color, the contrast, burn, all over the pictures.. even in pictures no.1, i think it's too bad to accept this. Voodoo Delirium, everyone's favorite, techically good, but i don't understand their story (in Round 1), their essay. Like i see a folder of photo concept session about broken watch, but i can't see the story and the relevance with the theme. I don't know what's going on here. Okay it's a photography contest. But it's PHOTOESSAY Contest, your pictures should tell story, real story, real pictures, real photo, PHOTO with Story please. Not only, good pictures, but with good story. of course with minimum photo editing with photoshop. Come on, don't make TIME Magazine's editor or National Geographic's editor laugh abut this competition. :)) Please Judges..Make the right decision. Please.. Good photo essay must tell a story. with minimum photoshop editing, let the real pictures tells the story.

HOAX, Technical Error, or Judges still doubted about their decision Reply Contact those results appeared on the leaderboards yesterday and were gone in 10 minutes.. i was in the right place at the right time and managed to see them :) no one knows what happened, and why they dissapeared, but i guess we'll find out tomorrow. as for ZGLAD team, i have to agree with you, it's photoshoped too much, and the story is very weak. the problem about judging in contests like this is the subjectivity of the judges.. some of them obviously like that essay, and you can't do nothing about it :) i still congratulate team ZGLAD if they really went through :) about team Voodoo Delirium - you haven't seen their second entry so you can't judge them on the first one. trust me, they absolutely need to be in the finals.

Although I am not a judge and I can't even dream to be one at such competitive level, but I will agree about the concept of Photoessay you presented. Just like Esens I was there at the right moment to watch the results announced, though I didn't stick around to watch them disappear.  [Removed for the respect of other teams and maintaining cyber ethics]. But as I see here, voices have been raised against them, so I am just adding my two bits. As for Esens, I would really wish your team to make it to the Finals. If I am not wrong, your photoessay was the one that had figures in them and a certain figure, happy, became doctor. I would state the truth and nothing else. If 5 teams are selected and authority is given to ME to select the sixth team, the only options being either your team or mine ... I would definitely choose your team to go to the Finals [although there is certain level of SELFISHNESS involved too, so if I choose my team don't be surprised ;) ] Why? Because your effort, story and photography are much better. You definitely qualify for the Finals. If judges are revising their decision, I would definitely vouch for you to make it in the list.  As for Voodoo Delirium, I don't doubt their skills and won't be surprised if they still maintain their spot in the Finals when result is re-announced tomorrow. A team such as the most favorite team as per the members posting over here..  Team Voodoo Delirium, if i were to decide then they would not have qualified even for the 2nd round itself The irrelevancy accompanying their essay doesn't  at all go along with the topic for which it has to be prepared  And the essay of ZGLAD TEAM ,another team which is just trying to portray there mastery in photoshop and all such stuffs which has nothing to do with this competition. Had it been a competition in those fields then they surely deserved applauses. But,my dear friends here it is just as worthless a thing as one can get to see..   Among the essays which i saw i certainly found materialistic n relevant stuffs in these essays.. BUT AS EVERYONE KNOWS THE CALL OF OFFICIALS IS FINAL WE CANT DO ANYTHING EXCEPT WISHING THESE 3-4 TEAMS BEST OF LUCK .. MAY GOD BLESS THOSE GUYS..             Amit.

We are just sharing what we felt. Judges decision is final and if you truely made it to the Finals as the result today showed, I offer you my congrats without any hesitation. Wasio Ali Khan Abbasi

Take it in that respect. I have already mentioned that I am just a novice who is taking part for the first time at such a competitive level with very little technical know-how of photography. So please read the content in the spirit it has been written. I believe I will be a happy person if I come into Top 50, so please reserve your judgement. As for UN goals, they are a REFERENCE. Did Voodoo Delirium's photoessay of the first round addressed to any perticular UN goal? No, it did not. My first photoessay covered Education but not primary and it wasn't fully Educational as well. This time I took Environment theme, with realistic pictures and depicting reality. I am a Sindhi and I know the reality of Sindh and what has happened to the great River Indus that flows through my land. That's why I targetted River Indus in my Photoessay. My team was one of those who were mistakenly informted that they did not qualified for the second round and so we lost MUCH precious time. You have no idea what I have went through to get even THIS MUCH done.   Therefor I am sorry, but Back Off !!! Wasio Ali Khan Abbasi
