    Round 3 Judging Criteria

    Hi,
In Round 3 Judging Criteria in mashup competition guidelines it says
20% -Presentation: Quality of presentation and answer to questions from judging panel(s).

but under mashup finalist info it says
20% Presentation: Quality of presentation (your video)

As such, i would really appreciate if u can clarify it. Is it the video we submitted in Round2?

    Thanks.

    Re: Round 3 Judging Criteria

    Hello,

We are confused about the presentation requirement as well.

Also, to add the previous post, can you please clarify this posting:

The MashUp Finals competition begins NOW. Between today, June 4, 2009 and June 29, 2009 you will be able to improve upon one of your MashUps and collect evidence of its usability. Our judges will search the web for your PopFly block and the MashUps created by using it. They will score your entry submitted during Round 2 with the updates observed beginning on June 30, 2009.

There was a reply in one of the previous threads about just improving ONE mashup.  The post also states to "improve upon one of our MashUps. " However, this post states that the "judges will search the web for your PopFly block and the MashUps created by using it."  Does this mean that the judges will be looking for all 3 of our MashUps?  This is a bit unclear to us, so we are just Curious. :)  (sorry, had to add that!)

Also, can you also please clarify "collect evidence of its usability"?  Does this mean evidence of adoption or evidence of the how easy and effective it is to use the MashUp (ease of use, navigation, aesthetics, effectiveness,  etc)?

    Thanks!

    Sincerely,

    Kathy Pham (Team Curious)

    Re: Round 3 Judging Criteria

    Hi,

As I said, it's quite simple. You have to improve your Popfly block or set of core blocks and one of the mashups until June 29th. Having stated this, you can improve more than 1 mashup and go beyond in all the ways you like.

On June 30th the mashup judges will check the artifacts submitted on Round 2(video, report, master plan) and check what you have made new on the web. So just evolve your Popfly block and the Mashup. We will recheck all the links you had sent on Round 2, including your blogs and any dedicated/hosted Mashup websites, so you can add there some info about the new changes, new adoption data, even a new video hosted elsewhere explaining the new changes. As regards evidence of usability just consider usability from an user perspective and developer perspective including adoption, navigation, effeciveness and case studies. We will check if developers are using your blocks to create new mashups, we will check rankings and hits on search engines, Facebook users if you published on Facebook, and so on. And please TEST it intensively in order to avoid bugs.

Once in Egypt, the Mashup Captain wants to organize a debriefing meeting with all of you. The idea is to maximize your pleasure experience in Cairo, rather than put your hands to work on coding.

    To summarize:

Do not make any change after June 30th , because all the other parts will be assessed by the Judges at that time.

Due the nature of a mashup it simply wouldn’t make sense having formal a presentation in a stage, so we will cover this piece of the competition during a debrief meeting with all competitors. Please get prepared.

Thank you so much for clarifying our issues clearly in detail. But i'm having a small question; it would be great if u can kindly clarify, what is a debrief. We are not very clear on what is expected by it?
    Thanks

     Hi,

A the idea of a debrief is to have an informal meeting, is going to be like more a Q&A session. Which means that you do not need to prepare any slides or a formal presentation. Just be prepared to answer questions about your entry and Mashups in general.
