    What are you shooting with?

    Hi everyone

I'm wondering what camera are you using now? It's out of curiosity because it really doesn't matter for this competition, there are other stuff more important, but as this is about technolgy I'd like to know what technology are you using to create your pictures. Hardware and software...

Last year in Paris, 4 out of 6 teams in the finals, used Canon.

I use Nikon, D100 and D200, the lenses I use are: for macro photography a Nikon 60mm Macro, that I used to have when I used my film N90 camera, I use mostly my Tamron 28-300 and some times a Nikon 50mm 1.8

Once I got the pictures I use Expression Media to create my catalogs.

Flickr is where I publish for general public.

    What about you?

Hi! from the original Imagine Cup catalog. It looks like the information is wrong, because in your team description it says that you shoot with a D80, nothing about Canon.

    Who else?

ah ic u have done ur research. The D80 was used in round 1 but during the finals the d80 was not used :) 2 Canon 40D(school supplied), 1 Canon 5D(school supplied) and 1 nikon d200(microsoft supplied) was used :)

My preference is Nikon, but i work on essentially whichever equipment system im supplied or given more adequtely or does the job better.

This is my first year in the competiton but I shoot on Nikon.  I mainly use the Nikon D300 and the D70.  When I want to shoot B&W I go old fasion and shoot on my Nikon FE2.  My faviorite lenses are my 70-200mm f2.8 and my fixed 105mm f2.5.

70-200mm f2.8 is the one that I'm looking forward to..

Does it worth it? Can you share some pictures from that lens?

    Is it the VR one?

Re: What are you shooting with?

If you have the money by the nikon/cannon lens.  The biggest difference is the speed at which it focuses.  If you are not worried about having the best of the best and need to save a buck I say go with sigma  glass.  I have not had a issue with sigma.  With that said, sigma glass some times will want to shoot a little soft.  I had one lens that did but they replaced it.  Once you shoot w/ a 2.8 you will not want to go back.  I love that lens.  As for photos I may post a few in a bit but I am in the middle of switching PCs and they are on the other one which is turned off right now.  Hope this helps.

the afs 70-200 2.8 vr ed is good, but i think nikon can do better. It is a little on the heavy side too. 2.8 glass are good, but sometimes really not practical for walkarounds where weight matter.

There were some rumors about the new VR2 of that lens but nothing was confirmed, as far as I know.

Focus speed is critical, I missed a lot of photo ops with a slow lens.

I use a Nikon D50 with a 11-18 lens. Great for my imagination.

Then a Canon D30 with a 50mm lens for portraits.

uhh, you totally got me on that first line... good you're just joking :))))))) :P

i'm using Canon 30d, and the most inexpensive two lenses at the time - 18-55 mm and 50 mm 1.8 :))

it's really a shame to put those lenses on a good body, but hell, even that's ok when you're in a never ending fight with money ;)

So, if you have a crappy near-broken digital camera, and no chance of getting a new and improved one with a fancy name, you have no hope in getting an honorable mention in, let alone winning this competition?

     Meh.... =\
